Kristie Owens
Nurse Manager

My husband and I recently celebrated 19 years of marriage, and together we have two children, Austin 18, and 8 yr. old Katie. We are a close knit family that enjoys spending time together. I am a Wilkes Community College graduate earning my Associates Degree in Nursing. I have been a R.N. for 11 years, working 5 of those years on a fast paced medical/surgical floor at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

After the birth of my daughter, I began praying for God’s direction concerning my career. I am honored to say He led me here and in March of 2012 I joined the staff of Wilkes Pregnancy Center. I am blessed to be a small part of such an amazing organization.

Medical Director

Dr. Walter Meadors is an Obstetrics/Gynecology Specialist in Statesville, NC. He graduated with honors from the University of NC at Chapel Hill School of Medicine in 1979.

Kevin LaPlante
Fatherhood Advocate

Kevin has worked with our Practical Fatherhood Initiative as a volunteer since September 2019 and came on staff in September 2020. Kevin has over 25 years of experience as a licensed professional counselor advocating for men, women, children and families. Perhaps more valuable than his professional experience is his life experience as a man, as a husband of 29 years, as a father of three children, and as a grandfather of three.
A primary goal for the Fatherhood ministry at WPCC is to get to the heart of the matter. What really is Our Heavenly Father’s original design and intent for the family and for children? That a man and a woman would enter into a covenant relationship with one another, love one another, and within this loving relationship children would be born to one loving mother and one loving father. With this in mind, we offer opportunities for our fathers and mothers to learn, grow, and mature into healthy families.
