Abstinence Education Program
In 2013, WPCC began teaching an abstinence-focused education program in all Wilkes County 9th grade Health classes. We joined forces with Wilkes County schools to teach the state required abstinence portion of their Healthy Living Curriculum.
Each semester we schedule a 3-day program which focuses on character building, choices & consequences, setting goals & boundaries, healthy relationships, information on STD's & STI's, and avoiding teen pregnancy with an emphasis on choosing abstinence until marriage as a healthy choice. About a year later we introduced the program to our 7th graders in middle schools. It is our goal to not only see a reduction in teen pregnancy but also a decrease in the number of teens with STD's & STI's.
In 2023, Wilkes Pregnancy Care Center adopted a new curriculum called “Choosing the BEST” and was able to provide all schools with student manuals and leader guides to help implement the program and bring up-to-date, medically accurate information to students. Embrace Grace
Embrace Grace is a faith-based program offering support, hope and joy for single moms. These moms can make friends in a judgement-free environment with a community of women to provide strength and encouragement. They say goodbye to fear, and hello to hope and joy! Single moms also receive a baby shower at the end of the program to help with their baby needs!
Circle of Parents
Circle of Parents is a weekly parent-led and professionally facilitated support group program that gives parents the opportunity to share in each other's challenges and successes while developing a network of support. Wilkes Pregnancy Care Center partnered with Wilkes Community Partnership for Children to provide this service for our clients. Childcare is provided by WCPC staff members for infants through 5 years old.
Campus Outreach Program
Beginning in 2024, WPCC will implement its Campus Outreach program designed to raise awareness of the many services our center offers to local community college students and surrounding campuses.
